William Blakeney

MBBS MS MSc FRACS FAOrthA

Associate Professor Blakeney is an orthopaedic surgeon at West Coast Orthopaedic Clinic, operating at St John of God Hospital Subiaco, Royal Perth Hospital and Albany Health Campus.

He is a local graduate having completed his medical degree at UWA and then advanced training in orthopaedic surgery in Western Australia. Dr Blakeney then travelled around the world to gain further international experience.

He completed fellowship training in shoulder and sports knee surgery at the Santy FIFA Medical Centre of Excellence in Lyon, France. He spent 12 months in Montreal, Canada doing a fellowship in hip and knee replacement surgery, and a diploma in hip and knee joint reconstruction with the University of Montreal. He also completed an AO trauma surgery fellowship in Nashville, USA. He was selected for the prestigious American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine travelling fellowship, visiting all the top sports medicine institutes in the USA.

Dr Blakeney has a keen interest in orthopaedic research. He is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia. He has over 100 peer reviewed publications in the orthopaedic literature. He has a Master’s degree in surgery from UWA and a Master’s degree in clinical trials from University of London.

He is a no gap provider with all major health funds.
